Large plastic mouldings such as toys, plastic pallets, rubbish bins, and plastic lawn furniture can all create very large static charges. When the tool is removed from the part, the built-up static charge can cause severe operator shocks and the attraction of dust around the equipment.
On the other hand, static can be used in processes such as In Mould Labeling (IML) which enables a static charge within an injection mould to hold the plastic label in place to create a fully recyclable product.
