The Simco CM-5 static charging generator sets a new standard, with microprocessor control to give market-leading features and performance.
Two new features Voltage control (VC) and Advanced Current Control (CC) allow the generator to give a stable output depending on the user requirements. Typically, static generators provide an output voltage, which will fluctuate depending on environmental factors.
Advanced Current Control enables the generator to monitor the output current to the electrode or charging bar. If the load is excessive, such as when a material is missing between the charging bar and grounded roller, the generator detects this and switches the current to a safe low level. This prevents arcing, emitter pin wear and ultimately charging bar failure. When a material is reinserted, the current will automatically switch back to the setpoint level.
Voltage Control will make internal adjustments to ensure, wherever possible, the output voltage remains at the setpoint level. Differing material types and changes in humidity will no longer affect the output voltage. This will give consistency and remove the need for operators to constantly make small changes to the output voltage.
Advanced Output Control is another option available for specific applications. This function provides output control that is proportional to an input signal e.g. the level of charging can be proportional to the speed of your machine.
In addition to the standard Sub-D-25pin I/O connector, a bus module can be fitted allowing the generator to communicate through serial bus interfaces such as Profibus or CANopen (Other serial protocol available on request).
CM5 is fully backwards compatible with ECM30/60 and ECM DI30/60.
